A proud native of New Philadelphia, Wendy Sand Eckel graduated NPHS in 1976 before earning a Bachelor’s in sociology/criminology at Miami University, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from Syracuse University. Her career as a psychotherapist brought Wendy to Maryland, where she still lives, having recently moved to a small town on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
Wendy practiced social work for many years before turning her focus to writing fiction. She put her criminology degree to good use in her best-selling and award-winning Rosalie Hart Mystery Series. The fifth book in the series will be released in Spring, 2025.
Murder at Barclay Meadow
Rosalie Hart's world has been upended. After her husband confesses to an affair, she exiles herself to her late aunt's farmhouse on Maryland's Eastern Shore. With its fields untended and the house itself in disrepair, Barclay Meadow couldn't be more different than the tidy D.C. suburb she used to call home. Just when Rosalie feels convinced things couldn't get any worse, she finds a body floating in her marsh grasses.
Death at the Day Lily Café
Rosalie Hart has finally opened the café of her dreams. Decked out with ochre-tinted walls and stocked with delicious farm-to-table organic fare, the Day Lily Café is everything she could have hoped for. But not five minutes into the grand opening, Doris Bird, a dear and trusted friend, cashes in on a favor—to help clear her little sister, Lori, of a first-degree murder charge.
Killer in a Winter Wonderland
Holidays are fickle things — often good, but sometimes not so good. It’s December in the quirky town of Cardigan, and Rosalie Hart has been thrown several curve balls. For one, her ex-husband has booked a semester break vacation to Dubai with their only daughter, Annie, leaving Rosalie alone for Christmas. And following a renovation, Rosalie’s restaurant, the Day Lily Café, is open for business with an expanded dining room and a chef with an inflated ego. To make matters worse, when her head waiter and best friend Glenn Breckinridge is concerned about a neighbor who hadn’t returned home, they learn he had been murdered while riding his bike on River Road.
In the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle, Rosalie and Glenn pair up once again to uncover who killed Bill Rutherford on that raw wintry night.
