Growing up on a small farm near Orrville, Ohio, Kathleen Martin has lived with the dream of becoming an author, since the age of twelve. That dream, however, waited patiently while she worked 40 years in manufacturing, and raised her son, Michael. In 2018, at age 61 she retired and opened her laptop.
She published the "Sea Stone Collection" in 2019. It began with someone telling her, "No one ever writes stories about women our age falling in love for the first time." Within the pages of this first novel, published by Christian Faith Publishers, Kathleen tells the story of one courageous woman, who proves that even at age 60, true love can find you.
In 2021, she published "Called Back: A Tale of Two Worlds", with the help of her son, Michael, who now lives in Michigan. Michael, an accomplished artist, paints Native American Spiritual paintings, and works at a tattoo shop. As a tribute to her son, Kathleen turned his story, and one of his paintings, into a Native American paranormal, that highlights their ancient stories of the Star People. Her second novel takes place on the Navajo and Hopi Reservations near Dilcon, Arizona. A sequel to this story, "The Return: Into the Deep", is due out this summer.
At age 65, Kathleen is living proof that you're never too old to realize your dreams, if you want them badly enough. She lives in New Philadelphia with her husband, Darrell. She hopes you enjoy her stories.
The Return: Into the Deep
Sequel to Called Back: A Tale of Two Worlds
When Mike Aul receives an urgent summons from Arthur White Horse asking for his help, he's forced to weigh out the consequences. Still dealing with the nightmares from his last trip to the Navajo Indian Reservation, ten months earlier, he finds himself torn between answering Arthur's urgent call and keeping his sanity. But, considering Arthur a good friend, he decides to throw caution to the wind, and catches the first flight to Arizona. He thinks he'll be building a goat pen. However, what Arthur has in mind is much more demanding than pounding nails! When the young tattoo artist arrives at Arthur's home on the "Rez", he's met with dire news.
"Black Fox is missing!" Arthur tells him.
Mike is taken aback! Black Fox is a name that lived only in 1830, and in his past life as Two Ponies, not in 2017! In reality, the old Hopi shaman passed on nearly two centuries earlier! How can he now be considered missing? What happens next sends Mike on an adventure that nearly costs him his life and he's forced to rethink everything he's ever known about the world around him.
Called Back: A Tale of Two Worlds
Mike Aul thinks he’s living the good life in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At the age of 35, he's not only a well-known tattoo artist, but his Native American spiritual paintings are well-known, as well. When a reoccurring dream reveals the image of an elderly Native American man from the days of the wild west, Mike follows his instincts and paints the image onto a canvas. It quickly becomes one of his best pieces. Then out-of-the-blue, he receives an invitation to display his work in a Phoenix art gallery. Intrigued, Mike seizes the opportunity and includes the painting of the elderly Native American in his collection. His life quickly takes a turn for the bizarre when a Navajo grandfather shows up at the gallery and claims the man in the painting is actually an old friend of Mike’s from a past life.
“He travels across time with a message for you,” the old man declares. Mike quickly dismisses the old man’s words as Indian mumbo-jumbo. However, his questions begin to mount when the man in the painting suddenly begins to haunt his every move. Who is this mysterious “out of time” friend and what message could he possibly have for a young Michigan artist? Hoping to find the answers to these questions, Mike accepts the grandfather's invitation to visit him on the Navajo Reservation. What Mike discovers in the mystical land of the Navajo is more than he bargains for and his life is changed forever!
